Joining a bit late. I will try my best to finish on time, but since I am still learning, I might not make it.
My entry is more horror-focused, as Lamashtu is considered to be a demonic deity. Since I want to keep the horror feel, the sci-fi elements will be presented as an attempt to control or contain a myth. Below, I will provide a short description of Lamashtu and what she represents and a few pictures of my progress. I started a few days ago.
Lamashtu is a demonic Mesopotamian deity, daughter of the sky god Anu. Described as a demon with the "head of a lion, the teeth of a donkey, naked breasts, a hairy body, hands stained, long fingers and fingernails, and the feet of AnzĂ». She bore seven names and was described as seven witches in incantations. Her evil deeds included: slaying children, unborns; causing harm to mothers and expectant mothers; eating men and drinking their blood; disturbing sleep; bringing nightmares; killing foliage; infesting rivers and lakes; and being a bringer of disease, sickness, and death. Although Lamashtu has traditionally been identified as a demoness, the fact that she could cause evil on her own without the permission of other deities strongly indicates that she was seen as a goddess in her own right.
Even though she is described as having a lion head, I wanted her face to feel creepy and unsettling, so I created a hybrid of a human and a more dog-like head. Body is still in the early stages and all of the muscles are just placed.
