Myths Reimagined - Ares, God of War

Hi guys,

Originially i started with the idea of reimagining Hades from the old God of War Games. I always thought that his unique shiloutte and dope shape design worked awesome for the games. Especially considering with the amount of details Characters could have on the older consoles.

But progressing further and further i realized that my design more and more started to look like a warrior and lost the appeal of a Lord of the underworld.

So i decided to switch things up and go further into that route by remaking Ares, the greek god of war. In the old myths Ares is portrayed as a very strong but also bloodthursty and a lot less intellectual than the other gods. There are few incidents where other Gods outsmarted him over his bloodlust and Ares getting injured. Since i wanted to go for a cyberpunk kind of vibe i thought it would be fitting to fuse in body replacments and showing off augmentations of past battles within the character. My Ares is still bloodthursty, but has seen quite a few battles, maybe even got beaten by other gods a few times. I think of him as seeking revenge, laughed at by the other gods and being sort of an outsider, fighting for his place in the realm.

I put some distance betweent he char and a few props for easier baking but thats pretty much where i am now. Will start texturing soon, as a just did some Uvs and Retopo. I feel kinda happy with the shilouette now, it has that greek sculpture kinda look to it, that i wanted after deciding to switch to Ares
