I’m thinking of creating an environment around a Brazilian myth called Boitatá. It is a fire snake wisp-creature who protects the forest from humans who destroy it.
I was thinking of a sci-fi scenario where the myth would surge in a different situation. Like a train in a slum that would start creating flowers around it because of its fire and wind.
The myth in this case would be a tale created to recontextualize the struggles around (to look at the bright part where they see a very rare sight of nature which no longer exists), as well to warn the kids about the dangers of the railway.
I will be posting my process here, looking forward to create it. Thanks so far!
Really cool concept!
Just a random thought, have you considered flipping / mirroring the scene? To me it seems the left-to-right flow might feel a tiny bit smoother
Still doing some early blocking, fixed the camera angle and light guidance. Took some inspiration from Minhocão in São Paulo city, where the buildings are very close to the road.
Current progress. I think most of the base modeling is done, now I’m going to start my trimsheets, and if I do have more time I can focus a bit more on the details and the background models.
Currently I’m modeling the last stuff I want to put in the scene, still have ~30k tris to work.
I’m struggling a bit with the textures, since I’m not very used to Trim Sheets . For now I kinda finished the first Trim Sheet (it’s quite basic but will try to work with it, of iterate later).
I will use the second Trim Sheet to details and texture the remaining stuff.
I’m also using some some vertex painting in the materials a bit (not very working so well with low tris). It’s being quite a challenge, but it’s fun to try new stuff.
Gonna run now to add some more storytelling to the scene and make it look better as far as I can🏃♂️.
I added vegetation in the rails, some petals flowing, and a burnt detail on the ground that I created in the second trim sheet.
I fixed the composition a bit, and mixed the colors in the post process and now I finished it, going to submit the final post now.
It was my first challenge here, I learned a lot! It was really fun to participate, thanks for hosting it and thanks everyone who participated, really amazing things were created here.
